Principal - Melbourne

Tim's career started in 1987 in Audit and Litigation Support at Price Waterhouse. In 1992, he joined Lloyds Corporate Advisory Services (later renamed Centaurus Corporate Finance), the pre-eminent boutique corporate advisory firm in Australia at the time. This firm specialised in takeovers, mergers, acquisitions and divestments and corporate and investment/strategic market advice to major Australian listed companies.

After Merrill Lynch acquired Centaurus Corporate Finance in 1997, Tim became Head of Merrill Lynch's Media, Entertainment and Technology Group. In 2000, he joined Village Roadshow as Head of Strategy and Development. Tim re-joined Merrill Lynch in 2001 as Head of the Melbourne office and Head of both the Media, Entertainment and Technology Group and the Consumer and Retail Group.

Tim joined UBS in 2002. Over an eight year period at UBS as a Managing Director/Senior Adviser, he was Head of both the Consumer and Retail Group and the Entertainment Group and was the lead adviser on a number of major takeovers, sales, acquisitions and restructures and capital markets transactions (initial public offers, primary issues, secondary sell downs, buy-backs and capital reductions) in a variety of industry sectors.

Tim's transaction experience includes:

  • mergers and acquisitions: TABCORP Holdings Limited's takeovers of TAB Limited, Jupiters Limited and Star City Holdings Limited, Publishing and Broadcasting Limited's takeover of Burswood Limited, Premier Investments Limited's takeover of Just Group Limited and National Food Limited's takeover by San Miguel Corporation;
  • initial public offers: as advisor to the vendor, TABCORP Holdings Limited and Austereo Group Limited; as joint lead manager, Pacific Brands Limited, Goodman Fielder Limited, TAB Limited, Repco Limited and ecorp Limited;
  • restructures: News Corporation Limited's acquisition of 58% of Queensland Press Pty Limited and re-incorporation in the United States, redeemable preference share issues by Fairfax Media Limited and Austar United Communications Limited and share buy-back by Village Roadshow Limited.

Since he left UBS, Tim has held various non-executive director positions. Currently, he is a non-executive director at Premier Investments Limited, Breville Group Limited and netwealth Investments Limited.

Over an extensive corporate advisory and investment banking career, Tim has advised major Australian and international listed companies in various industry sectors on both significant corporate and capital markets transactions and day to day equity market matters. This experience, together with the more recent complementary experience as a non-executive director, means that Tim is highly qualified to provide independent strategic corporate advice.

Tim joined Stratford Advisory Group in 2016 and lives in Melbourne.
