Mark's career started in 1986 in Treasury and Corporate Finance at Elders Finance Group. In 1989, he joined Lloyds Corporate Advisory Services (later renamed Centaurus Corporate Finance), the pre-eminent boutique corporate advisory firm in Australia at the time. This firm specialised in takeovers, mergers, acquisitions and divestments and corporate and investment/strategic market advice to major Australian listed companies.

After Merrill Lynch acquired Centaurus Corporate Finance in 1997, Mark was a Director in the Industrials Group. In 2001, he joined Macquarie Bank as a Director in the Industrials Group. Mark established Cygnus Corporate Advisory Services, a Sydney-based boutique corporate advisory firm, in 2007.

Over a twenty six year period at Centaurus Corporate Finance, Merrill Lynch, Macquarie Bank and Cygnus Corporate Advisory Services, Mark was the lead adviser on a number of major takeovers, sales, acquisitions and restructures and capital markets transactions (initial public offers, primary issues, secondary sell downs, buy-backs and capital reductions) in a variety of industry sectors.

Mark's transaction experience includes:

  • mergers and acquisitions: the sale of Neumann Petroleum, the sale of various distribution businesses in the steel and specialty metals sectors, the sale Lincoln Sentry Pty Limited, the sale of GroundProbe Pty Limited, the sale of W H Smith's retail operations in Australia and New Zealand, merger between Cockburn Cement and Adelaide Brighton Limited, the takeover of Metal Manufactures Limited by Consolidated Electrical Distributors;
  • initial public offers: as advisor to the vendor, Seven Network Limited, TABCORP Holdings Limited, Data Advantage Limited and Woolworths Limited;
  • restructures: demutualisation of the Credit Reference Association of Australia.

Over an extensive corporate advisory and investment banking career, Mark has advised major Australian listed and family-owned companies in various industry sectors on significant corporate and capital markets transactions. This experience at both global investment banks and a boutique corporate advisory firm means that Mark is highly qualified to provide independent strategic corporate advice.

Mark joined Stratford Advisory Group in 2016 and lives in Sydney.
